So I went to Make-Up school and had the time of my life!!! :] I am fully trained in many aspects of Make-Up including High Fashion and Photographic Make-Up looks, Creative Make-Up, Period Make-Up and Bridal Make-Up. Here are some of the things I did whilst I was there…
1920’s Fashion Make-Up…
Photographs were taken in black and white in the 1920’s so the make up they wore was very bold and thick, (very theatrical) dark eyes, dark lips and dark cheeks. It looks very overdone but the overall looks in the black and white photographs look so striking.
To create this look I used Kryolan pan stick (Maxfactor do something similar just called Maxfactor pan stick.) is like a really thick foundation, its not easy to blend and it does look really thick on the skin but it looks flawless on photographs.
Very thick dramatic eyebrows were very popular in the 20’s. I elongated the models eyebrows with a medium brown eye shadow, basically just filling in any gaps and making them look thicker and longer.
To create the illusion of very round cheeks I used a pink coloured blush on each of my models (one being more purple based and the other pinkish red.) making sure I only got colour on the apples of the cheeks then blended the colour slightly up towards the ears.
When I did the eyes I wet my brush slightly before applying the black eye shadow just so that the colours would be a little more dense. You could also just use a primer like Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion on the eyelids to make the shadow stay on longer and brightens the colour.
I only applied the colour just over the crease of the eye to keep it looking as round as possible and used a black kohl eyeliner pencil underneath. (not all the way under just to keep the eye looking round.)
To make the lips look pursed I covered them with the Kryolan pan stick to blank out the natural lip colour. I then pencilled in the shape of lips I wanted, keeping them as small as possible, then filled in the shape I had made with my desired colours, dark purple for one model to match the blush and reddish pink for the other, again to match the blush.

1950’s Fashion Make-Up…
Look like a HOLLYWOOD star!
This is great for evening Make-Up!
Keep skin matte and don’t forget to contour cheekbones, eye sockets and jaw line to keep this look really chiselled.
Fill in any gaps in the eyebrows to make them look as thick and neat as possible.
Use a mid brown eye shadow to contour the socket bone and crease line. Then whilst slightly stretching your skin by pulling from your temples, line the lash line with either a liquid or Gel eyeliner (I prefer Gel) and continue the line so it makes a slight flick. keep building the liner up so it makes quite a thick line above the lashes.
Make sure eyelashes are long and thick by applying false eyelashes.
lastly cover the lips with a small amount of concealer then line with a red lip liner so that you have a shape to follow when filling the lips in and so that the lipstick/gloss doesn’t bleed.

1960’s Fashion…
This was one of my favourite looks that I did at school. It took a long time because it is very precise work but the end result was worth it.
Again, keep skin quite matte. Use watercolours to create the bright white matte eyes and once the white has dried add the black lines to the lash line and the creases of the eyes. (either using black watercolour, liquid or gel eyeliner.) I used watercolour.
Apply false eyelashes for extra va va voooom!
Keep cheeks and lips a light pink to keep focus on the eyes with a sheer pink blush and a white pink lip gloss.
1980’s Fashion Make-Up…
OK so this was my all time period Make-Up favourite :]

and even BIGGER hair! :]
For this look I used Ben Nye 12 colour lumirere eye palette on both eyes and cheeks. It’s really highly pigmented the colours come out great and you don’t need much product. :] It’s such a great investment.
